According to a rumour coming from Digitimes, Apple is working on another new iPad – the iPad Mini. According to the source, the iPad Mini will come with a 7.85″ screen and a dramatically smaller bezel than its bigger brother. This should allow the iPad to maximise the screen area, but will still be thick enough to prevent accidental touches.

Apple have been rumoured to be prototyping small form factor iPads for a while now, in response to growing pressure from Android tablet makers. Some, like Samsung, have produced an incredible number of tablets across a wide range of sizes (from the 5.3″ phone/tablet hybrid, the Galaxy Note, to the 10.1″ Galaxy Tab 2 or Galaxy Note 10.1), exploring which form factors consumers prefer.

At the moment, there definitely seems to be room for a good 7″ or 8″ tablet from Apple, so hopefully we’ll see one from them soon – and could coincide with the debut of the rumoured new dock connector from Apple, meaning you’lll have to pick up a new iPad charger as well as a new iPad case! Possible release date? Think early next year at the very earliest.
